The film Shakila, based on the life of the famous actress Shakila, was made in Bollywood. Directed by Indrajit Lankesh, the biopic features Bollywood beauty Richa Chadda in the role of Shakila. Released in theaters on December 25, 2020, the movie performed averagely. The biopic was simultaneously released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada languages and earned moderate collections. At the same time, the film received criticism for having a lot of adult content. Only a certain group of audiences appreciated the movie. Additionally, the film was pirated immediately after release and was even uploaded on YouTube.

However, five years after its theatrical release, the Shakila movie has now arrived on OTT platforms. The digital streaming rights were acquired by the popular OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. The original Hindi version started streaming in March this year, and now, the latest Telugu version has also become available for viewers.

In Shakila, Pankaj Tripathi, Tollywood actress Esther Noronha, Rajeev Pillai, Shiv Rana, Kajol Chugh, Sandeep Malani, and others played key roles. Produced by Sammy Nanwani and Sharavan Prasad under the presentation of Prakash Palani, the film’s music was composed by Veer Samarth. Notably, Shiv Rana, who played the girlfriend of Prakash Raj in Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri, portrays Silk Smitha in this film. The movie narrates the story of how Shakila, who wanted to become a good actress in the film industry, ended up becoming a glamour star. It also shows the struggles Shakila faced in the film industry and the insults and betrayals she endured from her own family members.
