Plot Summary

Set 16 years after the death of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, Rome is ruled by corrupt emperors Geta and Caracalla. A man named Hanno, enslaved by the Romans in North Africa, is revealed to be Lucius Verus, the son of Lucilla and Maximus. Trained as a gladiator, Lucius seeks revenge on the general who destroyed his kingdom. As he fights in the arena, he uncovers a plot to overthrow the emperors and eventually becomes the rightful heir to the throne, uniting Rome and restoring peace.
