Indian 2 OTT Release Date Fixed

Indian, the 1996 film directed by Shankar and starring Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, captivated audiences across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi with its powerful narrative about fighting corruption and seeking justice for the common man. The film was a massive success, made on a substantial budget.

As a sequel, director Shankar once again teamed up with Kamal Haasan for "Indian 2." Released worldwide on the 12th of last month, "Indian 2" unfortunately turned out to be a box office failure. With a theatrical target of around Rs. 250 crores, the film managed to earn only Rs. 150 crores.

Netflix acquired the digital rights for the highly anticipated film for around Rs. 120 crores. However, a conflict arose between the producers and OTT companies. According to Tamil film sources, the dispute between Netflix and Lyca Productions has now been resolved.

With the theatrical run of "Indian 2" nearly concluded and considering its poor performance in theaters, Netflix plans to release "Indian 2" on its platform on August 9, ahead of the original contract date, as a digital premiere. An official announcement is expected soon.
