Disney's Mufasa: The Lion King premiered on December 9, 2024, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and was released in theaters on December 20. As a prequel to the 2019 The Lion King, the live-action adventure film explores Mufasa's early life and his rise to become the King of the Pride Lands.

The film will begin streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on February 18, available for purchase, and for free starting April 1, 2025. Directed by Barry Jenkins, the movie garnered over $653 million at the global box office, detailing Mufasa's childhood, friendships, and rivalry with Taka, who later becomes Scar.

Voiced by Aaron Pierre in the U.S. version, Mufasa’s character is voiced by Shah Rukh Khan in Hindi. The film also features Beyoncé as Nala and Lin-Manuel Miranda as the music composer. Additionally, Shah Rukh Khan’s sons Aryan and Abram Khan lend their voices to Simba and Young Mufasa, respectively. The film was also released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
