Mufasa The Lion King OTT Release

Barry Jenkins' much-anticipated film Mufasa: The Lion King is set to hit theatres soon. This American musical drama serves as both a prequel and sequel to the 2019 The Lion King remake. The photorealistic animated film follows the story of Mufasa, an orphaned lion who rises to power in the Pride Lands. The movie will be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar after its theatrical release.

Premise: Set after The Lion King (2019), Mufasa: The Lion King tells the tale of Mufasa's early life through the eyes of Rafiki, who shares the story with Simba and Nala’s daughter, Kiara. The narrative explores Mufasa's friendship with Prince Taka, his struggles, and the challenges he faced while growing up in the royal family, with Timon and Pumbaa providing comic relief.

Cast and Crew: The film, produced by Walt Disney Pictures, features a star-studded cast including Donald Glover, Beyoncé, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and John Kani, who reprise their roles. New cast members include Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, and Anika Noni Rose. Notably, Blue Ivy Carter makes her debut in a feature film. The film's cinematography is by James Laxton, editing by Joi McMillon, and music by Dave Metzger.

Mufasa: The Lion King will arrive in theatres on December 20, 2024, and will later stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
