Special Ops 2 Review

Release Date: July 18, 2025

Rating: 3.5/5

Story:

RAW agent Himmat Singh (Kay Kay Menon) returns to stop a cyber-terror attack on India’s UPI system. A kidnapped scientist and rising AI threats set the stage for a digital war. The villain, played by Tahir Raj Bhasin, seeks control, not destruction.

Cast:

  • Kay Kay Menon as Himmat Singh
  • Tahir Raj Bhasin as the antagonist
  • Tota Roy Chowdhury, Karan Tacker, Muzammil Ibrahim, and others

Performances:

  • Menon is solid and composed; Bhasin stands out with a chilling, intelligent portrayal. Tacker and Ibrahim support well. Kher is underutilized.

Technical Aspects:

  • Neeraj Pandey returns to espionage, delivering sleek direction and topical relevance. Cinematography and set design are polished, but action scenes lack punch. The pacing is slow at first, with too many subplots causing slight confusion.

Verdict:

  • Pros: Strong lead cast, gripping AI-driven plot, high production quality
  • Cons: Slow start, scattered focus, underwhelming action
  • A smart thriller that picks up pace mid-way, Special Ops 2 is a solid follow-up, though not as sharp as Season 1.
