While promoting his upcoming reality show Bharat Ke Super Founders, Suniel Shetty spoke to NDTV about Dhurandhar, describing it as a wildly ambitious project and applauding its grand scale, vision, and performances.

Six weeks after its release, Dhurandhar continues to reign supreme at the box office, driven by consistent support from moviegoers across India. As per figures shared by Jio Studios, the film has earned Rs 869.80 crore domestically, solidifying its position as the highest-grossing Hindi film ever.

During the interview, Shetty expressed immense admiration for director Aditya Dhar, calling Dhurandhar a landmark cinematic experience for modern audiences. He credited the filmmaker for understanding evolving viewer preferences influenced by OTT platforms and adapting storytelling accordingly. According to Shetty, Dhar has mastered present-day narrative techniques across writing, direction, and conviction.

Shetty explained that instead of resisting long-form storytelling, Dhar embraced it. He noted that audiences accustomed to OTT content were offered an extended theatrical experience, with nearly four hours on the big screen, a move that clearly resonated with viewers.

The actor also used the opportunity to address a broader concern within the film industry, the lack of mutual encouragement. While acknowledging the role of critics, Shetty emphasized that destructive criticism benefits no one. He stressed the need for balanced feedback that recognizes strengths while constructively pointing out shortcomings, rather than outright dismissal.

Discussing performances, Shetty reserved special praise for Akshaye Khanna and Ranveer Singh. He described Khanna as a flawless performer, rating him a perfect ten. However, he said Ranveer surpassed expectations entirely, calling his performance exceptional beyond measure.

What stood out most for Shetty was Ranveer’s restraint. While Khanna had significant dramatic moments, Ranveer’s challenge was in holding back emotion. Shetty noted that understated acting, especially portraying longing for one’s homeland from afar, is far more demanding than overt heroism.

Looking ahead, Shetty shared his excitement about Ranveer’s potential future in the franchise, imagining his presence in a sequel as nothing short of legendary.
