Kannada star Kichcha Sudeep’s action drama Max was released today in Telugu, two days after its original Kannada debut. Here's how it fares.

Story:

Max (Kichcha Sudeep) is a fearless and skilled CI about to return to duty after a suspension. Before rejoining, he arrests the minister’s sons for a crime, only to have them die in police custody. The situation escalates as the minister’s men and criminals attack the police station to free them. Max, trapped with a timid team, formulates a bold plan to regain control. The film revolves around this tense, high-stakes scenario.

Plus Points:

After a two-year gap, Kichcha Sudeep returns in a solo action film and delivers an intense, mass performance that will satisfy his fans. He, makes his role engaging. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar impresses as a corrupt officer, and Sunil plays Gani Bhai effectively. The background score by Ajaneesh Loknath heightens the action sequences and adds energy to the film.

Minus Points:

While the plot is straightforward, set in a police station over 12 hours, it feels familiar. The first half is fast-paced, but the second half loses momentum, dragging the narrative. Some supporting characters overact, particularly in portraying fear, which feels out of place. Certain scenes stretch credibility, and the climax is predictable, lacking a surprise element.

Technical Aspects:

Director Vijay Kartikeyaa delivers a solid action film with good screenplay pacing. The cinematography, music, and editing contribute to the film’s overall entertainment value, though it offers nothing groundbreaking.

Verdict:

Max is an enjoyable action movie with a strong performance from Kichcha Sudeep. While the story and pacing have flaws, it’s still a watchable film for fans of mass action cinema.
