Thalapathy Vijay GOAT Movie Review

GOAT Movie Review

Overview: Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by AGS Entertainment, is a science fiction action film featuring a star-studded cast including Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, and Sneha. The technical team includes Yuvan Shankar Raja for music, Venkat Raajen for editing, and Siddhartha Nuni for cinematography.

Plot: The story follows Gandhi (Vijay), an elite agent of India's SATS, who is forced back into action when a past mission threatens severe consequences. The film details his and his team’s efforts to neutralize the emerging threat.

Review: GOAT impresses with a gripping first half, but struggles in the latter half. Vijay’s performance is a standout, showcasing his versatility in portraying a younger character. However, the film's music and background score fall short, failing to enhance the movie's impact, particularly in the second half. The film's length could have been trimmed by about 20 minutes to improve pacing.

Strengths:

Vijay’s compelling performance

The strong first half with engaging twists

Well-executed de-aging effects

Weaknesses:

Lackluster music and score

Prolonged second half

Disjointed pacing with random dance numbers

Audience Reaction: The film premieres in the US on September 4, with Tamil Nadu’s first show at 7 am. Reviews highlight a strong start but a less satisfying second half. Despite its flaws, GOAT is considered a decent watch, especially for Vijay’s performance.

Rating: 2.75/5
