Viduthalai: Part 2 by Vetrimaaran, a sequel to the 2023 film, is set to release on December 20. The period action drama stars Vijay Sethupathi, Manju Warrier, and Soori, with music by Ilaiyaraaja. The story continues from the first film, focusing on Vaathiyar, played by Vijay Sethupathi, and his backstory. The film follows a rookie cop who, initially tasked with capturing Vaathiyar, begins to empathize with the oppressed people and their struggle against police brutality.

Audiences have highlighted Vijay Sethupathi’s powerful performance, with some calling it a “masterpiece” and noting the gripping, intense drama. The first half is particularly praised for its sharp dialogues and engaging action, though the second half is described as dense and occasionally preachy.

Vetrimaaran revealed that eight minutes of the film were trimmed before release, shortening the runtime from 2 hours 52 minutes. Viduthalai: Part 1 is streaming on ZEE5, with Part 2 also set for release on the platform.
