A decade after revolutionizing Indian cinema, SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus “Baahubali” has returned to theaters in a new avatar titled “Baahubali: The Epic.” This special edition merges both parts — Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017) — into a single film, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the franchise that redefined the global image of Telugu cinema.

Cast

Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishna, Sathyaraj, Nassar, and Tamannaah.

Story Overview

The legendary tale of Mahishmati continues to captivate even after all these years. Bhallaladeva (Rana Daggubati), consumed by ambition, desires the throne of Mahishmati. Along with his father Bijjaladeva (Nassar), he plots against Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas), the people’s favorite.

Queen Sivagami (Ramya Krishna), unaware of their schemes, orders the loyal commander Kattappa (Sathyaraj) to carry out a fateful act that changes the kingdom forever. When truth dawns, Sivagami regrets her decision, but Bhallaladeva’s hunger for power leads him to imprison Devasena (Anushka Shetty) and attempt to kill his mother.

Years later, Mahendra Baahubali, the son of Amarendra, rises to avenge his father and reclaim Mahishmati. The saga of betrayal, love, and revenge unfolds with epic grandeur once more.

Review and Analysis

Fans have long wished to experience both parts of Baahubali in a single sitting, and Rajamouli’s team has finally granted that wish. The two films, which originally totaled over five and a half hours, have now been skillfully condensed into 3 hours and 45 minutes, maintaining the emotional intensity and visual brilliance of the originals.

The first half covers Baahubali: The Beginning — featuring iconic moments such as baby Baahubali’s rescue, Shiva’s strength in lifting the Shivalinga, and his love story with Avantika (Tamannaah). Some musical sequences like Manohari and Tattoo Bottesina have been trimmed for pacing, as well as portions of the Kalakeya war.

The second half draws from Baahubali: The Conclusion, retaining all the crucial dramatic and action sequences — the coronation, Kattappa’s confession, and the emotional exchanges between Kattappa and Sivagami. The final battle scenes have been slightly shortened, but the cinematic grandeur remains untouched.

Visually, the remastered version shines even brighter. The Mahishmati kingdom looks fresher, and Keeravani’s background score, enhanced with Dolby Atmos technology, delivers a superior sound experience. His music once again uplifts the emotional core of the story.

Although audiences may not relive the same first-time magic from a decade ago, the passion and admiration for Baahubali remain strong. The film, priced at ₹330 per ticket, continues to draw fans eager to revisit this timeless cinematic milestone.

A Glimpse Into the Future

Midway through the screening, viewers are treated to a surprise — the teaser for “Baahubali: Eternal War – Part 1,” an animated continuation of the saga. Set across fourteen mythical realms, this upcoming project will explore new adventures within the Baahubali universe, proving that this epic legacy is far from over.

Final Verdict

Baahubali: The Epic isn’t just a re-release — it’s a celebration of ten years of cinematic excellence. With renewed visuals, refined storytelling, and an unforgettable soundtrack, the film rekindles the magic that made it a global phenomenon. Rajamouli’s creation once again proves why Baahubali remains the pride of Indian cinema.
