Devagudi Movie Review: Devagudi, directed by Bellam Ramakrishna Reddy, features Abhinava Shaurya, Narasimha, Anushree, and Raghu Kunche in key roles. The film released in theatres on January 30 and is set against the rustic backdrop of Rayalaseema, exploring deep-rooted social issues through a familiar village drama template.

The story revolves around Veera Reddy (Raghu Kunche), a powerful faction leader in Devagudi village. Dharma (Abhinava Shaurya), the son of one of his loyal followers, grows up alongside Veera Reddy’s children but is later rejected due to caste differences. Shweta (Anushree), Veera Reddy’s daughter, falls in love with Dharma, triggering conflict within the family and the village. As Veera Reddy’s health deteriorates and rival factions create unrest, Shweta mysteriously disappears, leading to the central conflict of the narrative.

From the opening scenes, the film questions the relevance of the caste system in modern society, highlighting how social progress contrasts sharply with outdated traditions still governing personal relationships. Set entirely in Devagudi village, the Rayalaseema flavour adds authenticity, even though the storyline largely follows a predictable path.

While the audience can foresee many developments, the narrative remains engaging due to its emotional grounding and social commentary. Abhinava Shaurya delivers a sincere performance, while Anushree fits well into her role. Narasimha leaves an impression as the brother, and Raghu Kunche is adequate as the authoritative village head. The supporting cast performs convincingly.

Technically, Madin’s music complements the rural setting effectively. The film’s runtime feels reasonable, and the production values are decent for its scale. Overall, Devagudi may not offer surprises, but it presents a socially relevant theme in an accessible and engaging manner for village-drama audiences.
