Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu Movie Review: Chiranjeevi-Anil Ravipudi Hit Combo

Megastar Chiranjeevi teams up with director Anil Ravipudi for the first time in Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. The film arrived in theaters on January 12 as a special Sankranthi release. Let us take a closer look at how the movie fares.

This Sankranthi season turned out to be an early celebration for mega fans. After the setback of Bholaa Shankar, fans of Chiranjeevi were eagerly waiting for a strong comeback, and after nearly two and a half years, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu has reignited their excitement. With this film, Anil Ravipudi continues his remarkable streak, marking his ninth consecutive successful outing. Interestingly, the film has not only impressed mega fans but has also received strong support from Daggubati followers. Notably, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu stands as the first clear hit of the year.

Expectations were naturally high for the Chiranjeevi and Anil Ravipudi collaboration. Many wondered whether the director could meet those expectations and whether audiences would enjoy seeing Chiranjeevi in a comedy driven role at this stage of his career. Addressing these doubts, Anil Ravipudi designed the film to satisfy core mega fan elements, giving importance to energetic dances, entertaining action sequences, and lighthearted moments. He took a simple storyline and presented it over two hours and forty minutes without unnecessary detours. With ample songs, fights, and humor, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu manages to appeal to a wide audience.

Story Overview

Shankara Varaprasad, played by Chiranjeevi, works as the personal security officer to Union Minister Nitin Sharma, portrayed by Sharat Saxena. Though his life appears pleasant on the surface, it carries deep emotional scars. Varaprasad, who comes from a middle class background, falls in love with Shashirekha, the daughter of a wealthy businessman, and the two get married. They later have two children. However, due to the manipulative actions of Shashirekha father GVR, played by Sachin Khedekar, the couple separates. The story revolves around Varaprasad efforts to reunite with his estranged wife, win back the trust of his children who have been turned against him, and guide his father in law toward the right path.

From a storytelling perspective, the plot itself is not new. Cinema has often explored themes of marital separation caused by ego clashes and eventual reconciliation. This film follows a familiar route. However, Anil Ravipudi adds fresh energy and entertainment to this well known template. He presents Chiranjeevi in a vintage style that longtime fans appreciate. While the first half focuses heavily on humor, songs, and fun elements, the second half shifts gears as the son in law steps into his father in law territory and proves his resolve. The entry of Venkatesh lifts the film to new highs, and their combined presence generates loud cheers in theaters, especially during the musical sequences.

That said, the film does not strongly establish the reasons behind the couple separation, nor does it deeply explore the emotional struggle of reconciliation. While the role of the hero mother includes meaningful dialogue about marital relationships, the transformation of the heroine could have been supported by a more powerful scene. The absence of a solid antagonist is another minor drawback. Nevertheless, Anil Ravipudi primary focus remains clear: delivering a festive entertainer that satisfies mega fans.

For Chiranjeevi, this role feels effortless. Anil Ravipudi brings out a refreshed and energetic version of the actor, reminiscent of his performances from over two decades ago. Chiranjeevi shines with his natural expressions, self aware humor, and sharp timing. It is evident that he thoroughly enjoyed playing this character. Nayanthara delivers a composed performance as the business tycoon daughter, maintaining grace and restraint. Supporting actors Harshavardhan, Catherine Tresa, and Abhinavam Gomatam add to the entertainment value. Sharat Saxena, Sachin Khedekar, and Sudev Nair perform their roles effectively. Zarina Wahab appears as Chiranjeevi mother, while Venkatesh makes a special appearance as Venky Gowda. Actors such as VTV Ganesh, Raghu Babu, Srinivasa Reddy, Harish Peradi, Naga Mahesh, Vadlamani Sai Srinivas, Viva Harsha, and others play key supporting roles. Child actor Revanth Pawan Sai, who won hearts in last year Sankranthi release, also adds charm and humor to the film. As expected, the dance number featuring Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh stands out with electrifying energy.

All the songs became popular even before the film release. The Hook Song gained massive attention among youth, surpassing the already popular Meesala Pilla track, which crossed over one hundred million views. The high energy song in the pre climax featuring Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh further elevates the film. Bheems background score complements the narrative well. Sameer Reddy cinematography and Thammiraju editing maintain good technical quality throughout. Producer Sahu Garapati, who earlier collaborated with Anil Ravipudi on Bhagavanth Kesari, delivers this project without compromise, along with co producer Sushmita Konidela. Venkatesh special role adds significant value and is expected to positively impact box office collections. Among Sankranthi releases, it will be challenging for other films to match the range of Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. Anil Ravipudi deserves special appreciation for crafting a film that families can enjoy together during the festive season.

Rating: 3.25 / 5
