Simbaa Movie Review, Rating, Collections

Synopsis:

"Simbaa," directed by debutant Murali Manohar Reddy, features Anasuya Jagapathi Babu, Jagapathi Babu, Kasthuri, Devi, Srinath, and Kabir Singh. Released on August 9, 2024, the film explores a unique concept of cellular memory and environmentalism.

Plot:

Aksha (Anasuya), a teacher, is struggling to support her family after her husband is paralyzed. A strange compulsion leads her to kill a man, which prompts an investigation by police officer Anurag (Vashishtha Simha) and journalist Fazil (Srinath). As the story unfolds, Aksha and Fazil are connected through a mysterious phenomenon linked to environmentalist Purushottam Reddy (Jagapathi Babu). The film delves into why these characters are driven to commit murder and how it relates to a larger environmental message.

Analysis:

While "Simbaa" offers a fresh take on revenge through the lens of cellular memory and environmentalism, the second half of the film, particularly the flashback scenes, feels overly stretched and lacking in logic. Despite its good intentions, the movie falls short in execution and coherence.

Performances:

Anasuya delivers a commendable performance, showcasing her versatility. Vashishtha Simha is effective as a police officer, while Jagapathi Babu brings a unique touch to his role as an environmentalist. The supporting cast, including Srinath and Divi, perform adequately.

Technical Aspects:

The cinematography could have been better, and the background music is inconsistent—effective in some scenes but overpowering in others. Sampath Nandi's story introduces an innovative concept, though its commercial execution is inconsistent. Director Murali Manohar Reddy handles the story well, given his debut status, though budget constraints are evident in some scenes.

Overall:

"Simbaa" attempts to blend a commercial revenge narrative with a novel concept of cellular memory and environmental awareness. While it has its moments, the film’s execution leaves much to be desired.
