After three years of anticipation, Pawan Kalyan’s action-gangster drama They Call Him OG finally hits cinemas. Directed by Sujeeth, the film features Pawan as Ojas Gambheera and Emraan Hashmi in his Telugu debut as the ruthless Omi Bhau. Set in 90s Mumbai, the story follows port owner Satya Dada (Prakash Raj), whose control is threatened by Mirajkar (Tej Sapru) and his son Jimmy (Sudhev Nair). Chaos erupts over a deadly container, forcing OG to return from exile to face Omi Bhau.

Plus Points:

  • Pawan Kalyan shines in a stylish gangster avatar with superb action.
  • Emraan Hashmi adds flair; Sudhev Nair and Sriya Reddy impress.
  • Thaman’s score, striking visuals, and action blocks thrill fans
  • Plenty of fan moments, including the katana fight and Easter eggs.

Minus Points:

  • Weak, predictable storyline.
  • Draggy second half with underdeveloped characters.
  • Limited emotional depth and underwhelming confrontations.
  • Climax lacks impact.

Technical Aspects

  • Sujeeth nails Pawan’s presentation but misses on story strength.
  • Music and cinematography elevate the film; editing dips in parts.
  • Strong production values recreate 90s Bombay.

Verdict:

  • A stylish action feast for Pawan Kalyan fans, but an average film overall due to weak story and character arcs.
