The Rings Of Power Season 2 Review

The Rings of Power Season 2 Review

In its second season, The Rings of Power returns with significant improvements, addressing many of the shortcomings of its predecessor. With Charlie Vickers leading the cast, familiar faces like Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, and Morfydd Clark also return. The series is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Plot Overview

Season 2 follows Sauron (Charlie Vickers) and Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) as they forge rings for the Dwarves, staying true to JRR Tolkien's lore. The Stranger's journey of self-discovery unfolds alongside, potentially making him a threat to Sauron.

Is It Better Than Season 1?

This season shows a clear shift in tone, with bolder storytelling and improved writing, though there’s still room for refinement. Character development is much stronger, giving the series more depth.

Remaining Challenges

Pacing issues persist, with some scenes dragging unnecessarily. However, exceptional cinematography, especially in graphic scenes, helps to offset this.

Highlights

Standout performances from Charlie Vickers, Charles Edwards, and Sophia Nomvete, along with top-notch cinematography, make this season compelling. Visually stunning scenes, such as Sauron’s death and the Stranger’s powers spiraling out of control, elevate the series to a level comparable to Game of Thrones.
