The critically acclaimed film Thadavu (The Sentence) has announced its release date for February 21. Directed by debutant Fazil Razak, the film explores the solitary life of a middle-aged woman in North Kerala, focusing on themes of isolation and resilience.

Fazil won the Best Debut Director award at the 54th Kerala State Film Awards for Thadavu, while lead actress Beena R Chandran shared the Best Actress award with Urvashi. The film gained early recognition at the 2023 International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), where it premiered in the competition section and won the Rajata Chakoram for Best Debut Director, along with the audience poll award.

The film features cinematography by Mridul S, editing by Vinayak Suthan, and a background score by Vaisakh Somanath. Thadavu is produced by Fazil, Pramod Dev, and Tanvi Gandhi. Fazil previously directed short films Athiru and Pira, both showcased at the 2021 International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK).
