Vijay and Genelia's 2005 hit Sachein is set for a grand re-release to mark its 20th anniversary. Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu announced that the film will hit theaters worldwide on April 18.

Directed by John Mahendran, the romantic comedy also starred Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu in her Tamil debut, along with Vadivelu, Santhanam, and the late Raghuvaran.

The story centers around Vijay’s character, Sachein, and Genelia's Shalini. Genelia recently shared her fond memories of the film, calling it one of her best shoots. The film's music, composed by Devi Sri Prasad, was a major hit, with all the songs becoming chartbusters. The cinematography was handled by Jeeva and editing by VT Vijayan.
