On Rajinikanth’s birthday, his iconic 1991 film Thalapathi was re-released in theatres, receiving an overwhelming response from fans. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film stars Rajinikanth and Mammootty and is inspired by the characters of Karna and Duryodhana from the Mahabharata. The re-release, accompanied by Ilaiyaraaja's music and Santosh Sivan’s cinematography, was met with much celebration in Tamil Nadu. In addition to Thalapathi, Rajinikanth is working on Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Jailer 2, with further announcements expected shortly.
