Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have confirmed that The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, directed by and starring Andy Serkis, will release on December 17, 2027. Serkis, known for his role as Gollum and his work on Venom and Mowgli, returns with a story set between Bilbo’s birthday and the Mines of Moria.

Peter Jackson, Walsh, and Boyens back The Hunt for Gollum, with the script by the trio plus Gittins and Papageorgiou; cast not yet revealed. Other 2027 releases include Star Wars: Starfighter and another Star Wars movie from Disney.
