The teaser of The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond has been released, marking a significant expansion of the narrative introduced in the 2023 film. The sequel, starring Ulka Gupta, Aishwarya Ojha, and Aditi Bhatia, is scheduled to hit theatres on February 27.
Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, the film moves beyond the geographical boundaries of Kerala, intensifying the themes and conflicts explored in the first installment. The teaser, released on Friday, signals a darker and more confrontational tone compared to its predecessor.
The narrative follows the continued journeys of three Hindu women who fall in love with Muslim men, only to uncover what the film portrays as a calculated agenda of religious conversion. The teaser presents love as a tool of manipulation, leading to identity conflicts and ideological confrontation.
A key shift highlighted in the teaser is the transformation of the protagonists from victims to resistance figures. The women refuse to accept deception any longer and actively fight back against those who seek to exploit them. The slogan, “Ab sahenge nahi. Ladenge” (We will not tolerate this anymore, we will fight), stands out as the emotional and ideological core of the sequel.
Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and co-produced by Aashin A Shah under the Sunshine Pictures banner, the film aims to amplify the discourse sparked by the original movie.
The first film, The Kerala Story, released in 2023, generated widespread debate and strong public reactions. Starring Adah Sharma, Siddhi Idnani, Yogita Bihani, and Sonia Balani, it depicted the radicalisation of women from Kerala.
At the 71st National Film Awards, the film received honours for Best Direction (Sudipto Sen) and Best Cinematography, further cementing its impact on contemporary Indian cinema.
