Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 dates
The Kumbh Mela, one of the world's largest religious gatherings, will begin in Prayagraj on January 13, 2025, lasting until February 26. This year’s event is special due to a rare celestial alignment of Sun, Moon, Jupiter, and Shani, which hasn’t occurred in 144 years. The Kumbh Mela, held at Haridwar, Nashik, Ujjain, and Prayagraj, celebrates the mythological event of the ocean's churning that produced amrita, spilling at these locations.
The Maha Kumbh, held once every 144 years, is influenced by planetary alignments, which may impact Earth’s electromagnetic fields. The festival, expected to draw 40-45 crore devotees, features rituals like the Akhara procession and Shahi Snaan, where Naga Sadhus take the first dip in the holy rivers.
