Music legend Pankaj Udhas passed away.

Music lovers and the film industry received sad news today with the passing of music legend Pankaj Udhas. The renowned Indian Ghazal artist, known for hits like "Chitti Aai Hai" and "Chandi Jaisa Rang," succumbed to illness at the age of 72. Pankaj Udhas had been battling health issues for several years and passed away after undergoing treatment.

His daughter Nayab Udhas shared the heartbreaking news on social media, stating, "It is with great pain that I share this news. Pankaj Udhas, who had been suffering from a chronic illness, passed away on February 26." The announcement left fans and members of the film industry in shock, leading to an outpouring of condolences on social media platforms.

Pankaj Udhas made significant contributions to Hindi cinema and Indian pop music, gaining widespread fame in 1980 with his ghazal album "Aahat." He continued to captivate audiences with hits like "Mukarar," "Tarrannum," and "Mehfil." The song "Chitti Aai Hai" from the movie 'Naam' became particularly popular. In recognition of his remarkable contributions to the world of music, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri in 2006.
