Mohanlal Re Elected As AMMA President

Veteran actor Mohanlal has been unanimously re-elected as the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) for the third consecutive term during a meeting in Kochi on Wednesday.

Alongside Mohanlal's re-election, significant changes in other key positions within the association are expected.

Edavela Babu, AMMA's long-serving general secretary, has announced his resignation. A new general secretary will be elected during the upcoming general body meeting on June 30, with actors Siddique, Kukku Parameswaran, and Unni Sivapal contesting for the post.

The competition for the position of AMMA vice president is also intensifying. Contenders Jagadish, Jayan Cherthala, and Manju Pillai are vying for the roles currently held by Shwetha Menon and Maniyanpilla Raju.

Edavela Babu, reflecting on his decision to step down, expressed satisfaction with relinquishing the role after nearly three decades of service, while affirming that Mohanlal would continue to lead AMMA as president.

These changes mark a pivotal moment for AMMA, setting the stage for new leadership dynamics under Mohanlal's ongoing presidency.
