Wayanad: Actor Kalabhavan Sobi George was arrested by the Sultan Bathery Police in Chattanur, Kollam. The police also seized the Benz car used by the accused. He has a total of twenty-six cases filed against him, with six of them located in Wayanad.

The arrest was made based on a cheating case filed at the Sultan Bathery Police Station by a resident of Thannitheruvu, Pulpalli. The complainant purportedly paid Rs 3,04,200 to George under the promise of securing a job in Switzerland. The bank transactions occurred between September 2021 and September 2022. George, a native of Kakkanad in Ernakulam, had been previously arrested in connection with a job fraud, wherein he allegedly accepted money from an individual promising a visa. George is facing four cases filed at the Pulpalli Police Station and one at Ambalavayal.

According to the police, George defrauded job aspirants of around Rs 25 lakh from Wayanad alone. Meanwhile, George refuted the allegations, stating, "The cases against me emerged after I provided a statement in connection with the death of celebrity violist Balabhaskar." George made this statement while being produced at the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Sultan Bathery.

Balabhaskar died in an accident on October 2, 2018. George had claimed after the accident that Balabhaskar's death was not an accident but a meticulously executed murder. He also asserted that he could identify those who were present at the accident spot.

The police team that arrested George comprised Sub Inspector K V Sasikumar, Senior CPO K S Arunjith, and CPOS V R Anith, M Midhin, and PK Sumesh. George has been remanded to judicial custody.
