Tamil star Vijay's new political party office bearers meet will be held on February 19

The Tamilaga Vetrik Kazhagam will hold its office bearers meeting on Monday, February 19 at 9 am at the party headquarters in Panaiyur, a press release from Vijay's office said.

Tamil superstar Vijay, who launched his political party Tamilaga Vetrik Kazhagam (TVK) on February 2, 2024, has publicly declared that he is targeting the 2026 assembly elections and is not interested in the upcoming general elections. IANS had earlier reported that Vijay is likely to help the BJP in the general elections.

Party district office bearers and state office bearers will participate in this meeting to announce decisions regarding the 2024 general elections.

In Tamil Nadu, two former Chief Ministers M. G. Ramachandran (MGR) and J. Jayalalithaa are superstars in the Tamil tinsel world. Muthuvel Karunanidhi, DMK leader and former Chief Minister of the state is one of the leading scriptwriters of the Tamil film industry.

However, neither Vijay nor his office bearers subscribed to his party's expansion to the BJP in those elections.

This is because the Tamil film industry and Dravidian politics in the state are intertwined and Vijay's entry could take Tamil politics by storm as he is a superstar of Tamil tinsel town.
