Director, and producer Linguswamy along with Tirupati Brothers co-producer Subhash Chandra Bose filed a complaint in the Producers Council that Kamal Haasan violated the contract. The trio's 2015 film 'Uttama Villain' pushed the Tirupati brothers into debt. After the debacle of 'Uttama Villain', Kamal Haasan promised to do a film with them but did not follow through for nine years.
In a statement released on May 2, Linguswamy explained that Kamal Haasan changed the script many times and that is why the film failed at the box office. They wanted to remake the Malayalam super hit movie 'Drisham'. But Kamal Haasan did not agree to that and within a few weeks, he made the film under a different banner.
After the failure of 'Uttama Villain', Kamal Haasan said that he would do another film for the production company with a budget of Rs.30 crores. However, he did not keep his word. Uttama Villain is a comedy-drama directed by Ramesh Aravind and starring Kamal Haasan. This is the story of an actor who is counting down his last days due to a brain tumour diagnosis. He then goes to his mentor to direct his last film and solve his personal problems. Kamal Haasan, K. Vishwanath, K. Balachander, Jayaram, Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja Kumar, Nasser, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Urvashi and others played the lead roles.
