Jayaprada acquitted in election cases: Former MP and actress Jayaprada has been acquitted in a case related to violation of election rules by the Uttar Pradesh court. She contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as a BJP candidate from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh.
Opponents from the Samajwadi Party accused her of making inappropriate comments during campaigning, leading to a case being filed against her at the police station.
Court verdict: Senior Justice Amar Nath Tiwari declared her innocent on Thursday, after considering the arguments of journalists covering the case.
She was present in court during the final judgment. Later, speaking to reporters, she revealed that she had contested twice from Rampur and won.
She clarified that she has always been here and never made any mistakes. She won in the Lok Sabha elections in 2004 and 2009 on the Samajwadi Party ticket.
