Lakshmi Manchu: A Victim of Patriarchy
Lakshmi Manchu, daughter of veteran actor Mohan Babu, entered Tollywood and established her own identity through films and shows.

Despite her success, she recently revealed in an interview with the Pre Press Journal the struggles she faced due to patriarchal attitudes within her family.
Challenges Faced:
Family Opposition: Her family resisted her move from Hyderabad to Mumbai, and she initially stayed with her best friend, Rakul Preet Singh.
Patriarchal Hurdles: Lakshmi stated that her father disapproved of her acting career. She highlighted the prevalent notion in the South (and across the country) that daughters, elder sisters, and younger sisters should not act in films. Unlike her brothers, she had to work hard to achieve her goals.
Despite these obstacles, Lakshmi Manchu moved to Mumbai to explore new opportunities, with encouragement from friends like Rakul Preet Singh and support from industry connections like Prakash Kovelamudi.
