Mysuru Filmmaker Chidananda S Naik Has Been Awarded The First Prize At Cannes La Cinef

Mysore-based filmmaker Chidananda S Nayak was awarded the award. The film Sunflowers is the first to Know won the La Cinef Award. He did a one-year course in the Television Wing of the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. The film Sunflowers, which was part of it, won the award. The film is based on the life story of a woman from Kannada folklore.
The third prize of La Cinef also went to Indians. Mansi Maheshwari, a woman of Indian origin, who made the animated film Bunnywood, received the award. Maheshwari was born in Meerut. She did her education at NIFT Delhi. She also studied at the National Film and Television School in the UK. Asia Segalovich, director of Columbia University, won the second prize at the La Cinef Awards. A grant of 15000 Euros will be given to the first prize winners.
The second prize winner will receive 11,250 Euros and the third prize winner will receive 7500 Euros. The award-winning films will be screened at the Cinema du Pantheon on June 3. This is the second time India has bagged the first prize at the La Cinef Awards in the last five years. In 2020, Asmita Guha Niyogi of FTII received the award. She took a picture called Cat Dog.
