SS Rajamouli, Rama Rajamouli, And Shabana Azmi Invited To Oscar Academy

Baahubali director SS Rajamouli has received a rare honor.

Along with him, his wife Rama Rajamouli, and Hindi actress Shabana Azmi have received membership invitations from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which gives out the Oscar awards.

The Academy recently inducted around 487 new members. The list includes Rajamouli, Shabana Azmi, Rama Rajamouli, and Ritesh Sidwani. Among the newly invited recipients are 71 Oscar nominees and 19 other Oscar winners.

Cinematographer Ravi Varman, filmmaker Rima Das, and Natu Natu song choreographer Prem Rakshit are among the other celebrities who have received invitations from the Academy.

If all those invited accept the invitation, the total membership will reach 10,910, with about 9,000 eligible to vote during the Oscars.

According to the Academy’s press release, the 2024 invitation list includes 44 percent women and 41 percent ethnic minorities. In addition to the United States, there are invitees from 56 countries.

Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang expressed their happiness at the inclusion of talented artists and professionals from all over the world. The invitees will need to choose a branch for their membership.
