Star Movie Review

Star," reminiscent of "Vaaranam Aayiram," delves into Kalai's journey, resonating with themes of dreams, relationships, and familial support. Director Elan skillfully integrates nods to Tamil cinema in the narrative, aiding empathy for Kalai's character, whose pursuit of stardom often overshadows personal connections.

While Meera questions Kalai's self-centeredness, his actions reflect a desire for heroism, even amidst conflicts like a dancing ban. However, his relentless pursuit leaves emotional debts unaddressed, including his family's struggles, despite claiming to seek their approval.

The introduction of Surabhi's storyline adds depth, despite some narrative distractions. Elan's adept direction compensates for the film's shortcomings, highlighting emotional complexity and paying homage to Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Yet, "Star" falls short in exploring Kalai's perceptions of non-heroic roles, remaining focused on his singular ambition. While it celebrates familial sacrifices, it also underscores Kalai's obliviousness to fulfillment beyond fame. In essence, it's a tale of chasing dreams, as Jim Carrey once noted, "to see that it's not the answer."
