Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train Project Advances Rapidly, Key Milestone Achieved

New Delhi: The Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project, India's first high-speed rail corridor, has reached a significant milestone with the completion of 300 km of viaduct bridges, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced. A video showcasing the progress was shared on the X platform, highlighting the swift development of the project.

Spanning a total length of 508.17 km, the bullet train corridor will connect Ahmedabad and Mumbai, reducing travel time between the two cities to just 2 hours and 35 minutes. The route will feature eight stations in Gujarat and four stations in Maharashtra.

Officials have confirmed that the first trial runs of the bullet train are scheduled for 2026, during which the train will be tested at speeds of up to 350 kmph — comparable to the speed of an aircraft during takeoff. Upon commencement of commercial operations, the train will run at a maximum speed of 320 kmph.

The project, valued at approximately Rs 1.08 lakh crore, is being executed through a partnership between the central and respective state governments, marking a major step forward in India’s rail infrastructure modernization.
