The Kerala Story 2
The sequel to The Kerala Story has recorded a modest performance at the box office during its opening weekend. The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond has collected Rs 12.8 crore net in India within four days of release, according to trade reports.
The film, which received clearance after legal proceedings in the Kerala High Court, opened to limited occupancy compared to its 2023 predecessor. On its first Monday (Day 4), the film earned Rs 2.65 crore, marking a noticeable drop from its weekend collections.
Day-Wise Box Office Collection (India Net)
- Day 1 (Friday): Rs 0.75 crore
- Day 2 (Saturday): Rs 4.65 crore
- Day 3 (Sunday): Rs 4.75 crore
- Day 4 (Monday): Rs 2.65 crore
- Total (4 Days): Rs 12.8 crore
The gross earnings of the film currently stand at approximately Rs 15.1 crore. On Monday, March 02, 2026, the film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 8.75 percent.
Comparison With the First Installment
The performance remains significantly lower than the 2023 film, which had collected Rs 45.5 crore within its first four days. Notably, the first installment had earned Rs 10.07 crore on its first Monday alone, highlighting the sharp contrast in momentum.
About the Film
Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film features Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, Aishwarya Ojha, Sumit Gahlawat, and Arjan Singh Aujla in key roles.
The film was surrounded by controversy over allegations of misrepresentation and concerns regarding communal sensitivity. While a single-judge bench of the Kerala High Court initially stayed its release, a division bench later lifted the stay, allowing its theatrical release on February 27, 2026.
Trade analysts suggest that the coming weekdays will be crucial in determining the film’s long-term box office trajectory.
