Parasakthi Movie Controversy: Telugu Netizens Angry Over ‘Golti’ Word in Tamil Version

Parasakthi Movie

Parasakthi has sparked controversy after Telugu netizens objected to the repeated use of the derogatory word “Golti” for Telugu people in its Tamil version. The issue has drawn sharp criticism on social media, with many calling the term offensive and unnecessary.

Directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan, the film is set against the backdrop of the 1960s anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu, a period marked by language tensions and discrimination against Telugu-speaking communities. Although the Central Board of Film Certification cleared the film with 25 cuts and ordered the word “Golti” to be muted in one scene, Telugu viewers are upset that the term was included at all, especially after reportedly being replaced with “Jai Telugu” in the Telugu version.

The controversy has reignited long-standing grievances among Telugu audiences over perceived unfair treatment by Tamil cinema. Calls to boycott the film, along with trending hashtags like “Avoid” and “Boycott Parasakthi,” continue to dominate social media. With no official clarification so far and mixed-to-negative reviews following its Tamil release, observers believe the issue could escalate further in the coming days.
