Kamal Haasan Refuses To Apologize Over Kannada Language Remark
Kamal Haasan refuses to apologize for his remarks about the Kannada language, leading to the postponement of ThugLife's release in Karnataka. The High Court urges him to apologize to ease tensions.

Kamal Haasan has refused to apologize for his controversial remarks, claiming the Kannada language originated from Tamil, which sparked anger in Karnataka. The film ThugLife, set to release on June 5, was banned by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce following his comments.
Kamal approached the Karnataka High Court challenging the ban. The court expressed displeasure over his remarks and urged him to apologize to ease tensions. However, Kamal stated he had no ulterior motive and refused to apologize, insisting he did nothing wrong.
The court emphasized the sensitivity of linguistic sentiments and said, "You are neither a historian nor a linguist. An apology would resolve the issue." Talks with the Film Chamber are proposed to address the matter.
