Ram Gopal Varma Delays Police Questioning, Faces Legal Challenges

Controversial Tollywood director Ram Gopal Varma has ignored the police inquiry. Last week, a case was filed against Ram Gopal Varma under the IT Act. He was supposed to appear for questioning today but reportedly told the police that he would not be attending.

Last week, a case was registered against Ram Gopal Varma at the Maddipadu Police Station in Prakasam district under the IT Act. Varma posted derogatory content on social media about TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Lokesh, and Nara Brahmanand, leading to the case being filed by TDP Maddipadu Mandal General Secretary Ramalingam. After receiving Ramalingam's complaint, the police registered the case against Varma.

The Andhra Pradesh police had issued a notice to Varma to appear for questioning. According to the notice, Varma was supposed to appear in court on Tuesday. However, before that, Varma approached the AP High Court and filed a quash petition. After reviewing the petition, the High Court rejected it and clarified that they could not provide protection from arrest, advising Varma’s lawyer to file for bail if necessary. Today, Varma was supposed to attend the inquiry at the Ongole Rural Police Station, but he reportedly sent a message to the police at 10 AM, stating he could not attend. Varma assured the police that he would cooperate regarding the case but requested four days for personal matters, stating that he would attend the inquiry without fail afterward.
