Jr NTR Delhi High Court order
The Delhi High Court has issued an order safeguarding the privacy and personality rights of Jr NTR, following a petition filed by the actor against the unauthorized commercial use of his name and images on social media and digital platforms.
The court observed that using the actor’s name, photographs, or identity for commercial purposes without his explicit consent amounts to a violation of his legal rights. It ruled that such actions constitute an infringement of personality and privacy rights under existing law and must be immediately discontinued.
In its order, the High Court specifically directed that nicknames and titles such as Man of Masses and Young Tiger, along with variations of his name including NTR, Jr. NTR, NTR Jr., and Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr., must not be used commercially without authorization. Any existing unauthorized usage was ordered to be removed in accordance with legal provisions.
The court further noted that Jr NTR is a nationally recognized public figure with significant influence and popularity. It stated that failure to protect his personality rights could expose him to potential misuse, misrepresentation, and reputational harm.
Additionally, the order restrains unidentified individuals, commonly referred to as “John Doe” entities, as well as online platforms, from misusing the actor’s name or images. The court clarified that even morphed or altered photographs fall under the scope of misuse, warning that any such violation would invite legal consequences.
