 Story

Sarzameen revolves around a military family dealing with personal and political turmoil. Major Vijay Menon, a stern army officer in Kashmir, unknowingly passes his emotional trauma onto his son Harman, who suffers from a speech disorder and feelings of inadequacy. Caught in between is Meher, a mother who understands her son’s silence better than her husband’s principles. When a terrorist exchange mission goes wrong, Harman turns against everything his father stands for, and the film explores whether love can heal such deep damage.

Pluses

  • Kajol's powerful performance brings emotional depth.
  • Cinematography beautifully captures Kashmir.
  • Fast-paced with consistent tension and drama.
  • Action sequences are gritty and well-executed.

Minuses

  • The screenplay lacks cohesion, with half-formed ideas and an unfocused narrative that struggles to hold together.
  • Abrupt character changes lack clear motivation.
  • Poor dubbing for Prithviraj disrupts immersion.
  • Ibrahim’s performance lacks emotional depth in key moments.

Verdict

  • Sarzameen has strong themes and a promising setup, but lacks narrative clarity and emotional impact. Watch it only if you're curious about the story or want to see Kajol in a compelling role. Otherwise, it's a missed opportunity weighed down by inconsistent execution.
