Pelli kani Prasad Movie Review
Pellikani Prasad is a comedy-drama about a 38-year-old man struggling to marry due to his father’s dowry demands, leading to unexpected twists in his life.

Comedian Sapthagiri, who turned into a hero at the peak of his comedy career, made a successful debut with Sapthagiri Express. However, his later films did not perform well at the box office. After a gap, he returned as a hero with Pellikani Prasad. The movie revolves around Prasad (played by Sapthagiri), a 38-year-old man with a well-paying job in Malaysia but unable to marry due to his father’s condition of a ₹2 crore dowry. When he finally finds a match and returns to India, the alliance is canceled. Meanwhile, Priya (Priyanka Sharma) wants to marry and settle abroad with her family. Eventually, her family arranges her marriage with Prasad, but complications arise when Prasad refuses to leave India after marriage. The film explores the challenges he faces and whether Priya’s family fulfills their wish to settle abroad.
The storyline of Pellikani Prasad follows a familiar theme seen in many Telugu movies—an aging bachelor struggling to get married. The director presents a contemporary issue where men with jobs and wealth still struggle due to dowry demands. The narrative starts with Priya’s family’s desire to settle abroad, then shifts to Prasad’s return to India for marriage. The film includes references to past hit movies like Khushi and Arjun Reddy, making some sequences engaging. While the first half builds curiosity, the second half slows down with stretched scenes. Some comedic elements work well, while others feel excessive. The climax could have been handled better for a stronger impact.
Sapthagiri carries the film on his shoulders, portraying the struggles of a bachelor unable to defy his father’s dowry expectations. His performance and dance sequences are commendable. Murali Sharma’s role as a father obsessed with dowry is impactful. Priyanka Sharma, though having limited scope for acting, is central to the story. Supporting actors like Annapurnamma and Pasha contribute to the film’s entertainment. Technically, Shekar Chandra’s background music enhances the comedy, especially with meme-inspired elements. The cinematography and song visuals are decent, while editing could have been tighter. Overall, Pellikani Prasad attempts to entertain with situational comedy despite a predictable storyline.
