Maargan Movie Review
Vijay Antony’s multi-role involvement as actor, producer, and music director shines in Maargan, a Tamil-Telugu bilingual directed by Leo John Paul. The film follows police officer Dhruva (Vijay Antony), who investigates the brutal murder of a young girl, Ramya, killed in the same manner as his daughter a decade ago.
He arrests Aravind (Ajay Dishan), whose strange behavior and supernatural elements complicate the case. The narrative, though engaging, treads a well-worn path typical of traditional crime thrillers.
Suspicion revolves around Aravind until the interval, after which the investigation gains pace but slows narratively. The climax offers a twist, though the killer’s motive lacks freshness. Vijay Antony anchors the film with a restrained and intense portrayal, while Ajay Dishan stands out with a complex character that evolves intriguingly through the narrative. However, supporting roles like Brigida’s are underutilized.
Despite predictable elements, the film stays engaging for its two-hour runtime, though it may feel routine for OTT thriller regulars.
