Committee Kurrollu Movie Review: Niharika Konidela's Ambitious Project

Rating: 3.5/5

Introduction:

Niharika Konidela's "Committee Kurrollu" marks her entry into theatrical productions, directed by debutant Yadu Vamsi. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Sai Kumar, Goparaju Ramana, Sree Lakshmi, and "Keraf Kancharapalem" fame Kishore.

Story:

Set in a village in the Godavari districts, a fair held every twelve years coincides with local elections. Shiva (Sandeep Saroj) runs for Sarpanch, haunted by a friend's death in a previous fair due to caste conflicts. The village panchayat bans election campaigning until the fair concludes. The film delves into whether old friends can reconcile, the motives behind reigniting past conflicts, and President Polishetty Bujji's (Sai Kumar) role.

Analysis:

"Committee Kurrollu" captures village life and its inhabitants more than a linear story. Director Yadu Vamsi vividly portrays youthful innocence and the complexity of caste-influenced friendships. The first half is filled with nostalgic humor, supported by Anudeep Dev's engaging music. The film's strength lies in its portrayal of friendship and rural life before smartphones.

The transition from comedy to serious issues around the interval is handled well, though the pace slows down post-interval. The depiction of caste conflicts is sensitive but somewhat cinematic in resolution. Sarpanch election dialogues, reminiscent of Pawan Kalyan's Janasena rhetoric, add political commentary.

Performances:

The ensemble cast performs admirably, with standout performances by Sandeep Saroj, Trinath Varma, Ishwar Rachiraju, and Yashwant Pandya. Sai Kumar and Goparaju Ramana bring their seasoned acting skills, while Kishore and Sree Lakshmi deliver emotional depth.

Technical Aspects:

Anudeep Dev's music and background score elevate the film, especially during the Jatra episodes. The cinematography beautifully captures the village's essence. The production values reflect Niharika Konidela's commitment to quality, although the second half could benefit from tighter editing.

Conclusion:

"Committee Kurrollu" is a heartfelt portrayal of village life, friendships, and caste conflicts. While it has its flaws, the film offers an engaging mix of nostalgia, humor, and serious social commentary, marking a promising debut for Yadu Vamsi and a successful theatrical production for Niharika Konidela.
