Microsoft Releases WinPE Recovery Tool Amid Global Service Disruption

Microsoft has announced the release of a recovery tool in response to widespread service disruptions caused by malware identified by CrowdStrike. The malware has affected approximately 8.5 million computers worldwide, leading to interruptions in flight, banking, and medical services.

The newly released tool, known as WinPE, is designed to assist users affected by the CrowdStrike malware. It offers two repair options for IT administrators to complete the recovery process.

To use the WinPE Recovery Tool, computers must have a 64-bit Windows processor and at least 8 GB of available storage. Additionally, a USB drive with at least 1 GB of storage is required.

The USB drive will be automatically formatted to FAT32 during the recovery process. A BitLocker recovery key is also necessary for the tool to function.
