Srikanth Movie Review Tushar Hiranandani Rajkummar Rao Jyothika Sharad Kelkar Alaya F

The movie "Srikanth" is a straightforward biopic tinged with melodrama. It opens with a scene where a man, Srikanth Bolla, almost gets hit by a car on a busy street, emphasizing his blindness. Flashbacks reveal his journey from infancy to adulthood, marked by struggles and triumphs. Srikanth, portrayed by Rajkummar Rao, fights against societal norms to pursue his dreams, including studying at MIT and starting a successful company.
Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, known for "Scam 2003: The Telgi Story," "Srikanth" simplistically portrays the life of Srikanth Bolla, the first visually impaired student at MIT and founder of Bollant Industries. While the premise holds promise, the film falls short in delivering a nuanced narrative, relying instead on predictable plot points and heavy-handed dialogue.
The storyline progresses linearly, showcasing Srikanth's struggles and achievements, including his legal battle to study science in higher secondary education and his entrepreneurial journey. Despite Rajkummar Rao's commendable performance, the emotional depth of the character feels somewhat lacking.
While there are attempts to add complexity to Srikanth's character, particularly his power-hungry tendencies, these elements are quickly resolved, leaving the narrative feeling rushed and shallow. The film's message of 'empathy over sympathy' feels superficial, overshadowed by its focus on Srikanth's disability.
