Railway Mobile Ticketing
Railway Mobile Ticketing: Indian Railways has announced that it will discontinue its long-standing UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) on Mobile application effective March 1, 2026. The move marks a significant step in the organisation’s ongoing digital transformation initiative aimed at streamlining passenger services nationwide.
The UTS mobile app, widely used for booking unreserved tickets, platform tickets and season passes, will be phased out and replaced by RailOne — a newly introduced unified digital platform. RailOne has been developed to consolidate multiple railway services under a single interface, enhancing convenience for millions of daily and long-distance passengers across India.
UTS App to Be Replaced by RailOne
Beginning March 1, 2026, the UTS app will cease supporting ticket bookings and season pass services. Railway authorities have advised passengers to download and transition to RailOne, which will serve as the centralised digital platform for ticketing and travel-related services.
RailOne integrates key railway functionalities including unreserved ticket booking, reserved ticket reservations, platform ticket issuance, live train running status, coach position details, PNR status tracking and food-on-track ordering services. The unified approach is intended to reduce dependency on multiple mobile applications.
Passengers can log into RailOne using their existing UTS or IRCTC credentials, ensuring a seamless migration process.
Passenger Benefits and Digital Incentives
- According to railway officials, the transition is designed to simplify digital access and improve overall passenger experience. RailOne offers expanded features beyond ticket booking, making it a comprehensive rail travel solution.
- To encourage digital adoption, Indian Railways is offering a 3 per cent discount on unreserved tickets booked via digital payment methods through RailOne. The promotional benefit is valid until mid-July 2026.
Transition Advisory for Commuters
- Passengers may continue using the UTS app until February 28, 2026. However, from March 1 onward, RailOne will be the sole platform for mobile-based railway ticketing services.
- Indian Railways has urged commuters, particularly daily suburban travellers, to install and familiarise themselves with the RailOne app in advance to ensure a smooth transition without disruption.
- The initiative reflects Indian Railways’ broader strategy to modernise passenger engagement and strengthen its digital infrastructure across the country.
