Mumbai Metro WhatsApp ticketing
On October 11, 2024, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation Ltd. (MMMOCL) launched a WhatsApp-based ticketing service, allowing users to purchase tickets via WhatsApp or by scanning a QR code. This service aims to enhance convenience for commuters across all metro stations and lines operated by MMMOCL.
Managing Director Ms. Rubal Agarwal emphasized that WhatsApp's popularity in India makes it an ideal platform for booking tickets. The initiative is expected to increase digital ticket adoption and provide an eco-friendly alternative to paper tickets.
Key features include instant ticket purchases, the ability to generate up to 6 tickets in one transaction, and convenience fees for credit/debit card payments, while UPI transactions remain free of charge. MMMOCL, established in 2019, oversees metro operations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
