Actor Abhay Arora has confirmed that individuals with roots in Lyari, Pakistan, were featured in certain crowd scenes of filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s recent release Dhurandhar 2. The clarification comes amid ongoing speculation regarding the presence of Pakistani actors in the film.
In an interview with NDTV, Abhay Arora, who portrayed Yasir—the younger brother of gangster Arshad Pappu—explained that several scenes filmed in Bangkok included local residents, some of whom trace their origins to Lyari.
Addressing the rumours, the actor stated that the production team relied on locally cast individuals for crowd sequences, including background performers and on-stage participants. He noted that a number of these individuals were Bangkok-based residents with connections to Lyari.
Arora further highlighted that their familiarity with the setting contributed significantly to the film’s authenticity. According to him, some of these individuals expressed surprise at the accuracy of the recreated environment, despite the cast and crew not having direct experience of Lyari.
When asked about specific sequences, he reiterated that multiple crowd scenes shot in Bangkok featured such individuals, reinforcing the realism of the film’s visual narrative.
Dhurandhar 2, headlined by Ranveer Singh, has been performing strongly at the box office since its theatrical release on March 19. The action thriller has garnered positive responses from audiences and critics alike, while also drawing attention for its detailed production design.
The film has reportedly earned Rs 575 crore net in India within six days, with its worldwide gross nearing Rs 919 crore. Overseas collections have also contributed significantly to its overall performance.
Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film features R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun in key roles. It has been released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
