Tollywood: Piracy Check Gets Legal Backing! TFCC Takes a Major Step
The Telugu Film Chamber has entered into an important Memorandum of Understanding with the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau to tackle the growing menace of digital film piracy.
The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) has initiated a decisive move to combat online piracy, which has emerged as one of the most serious threats to the film industry in the digital era. As part of this effort, TFCC has formalized an MoU with the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB). This agreement focuses on enabling real-time tracking of pirated content immediately after a film’s release, swift takedown of illegal material, and joint legal measures against those involved in piracy.
Piracy Control Through Real-Time Monitoring
According to the terms of the agreement, illegal content circulated through piracy websites, social media networks, messaging platforms, IPTV services, and mobile applications will be continuously tracked. A dedicated mechanism will be implemented to ensure that identified pirated material is removed without delay. The primary objective of this collaboration is to prevent substantial revenue losses faced by producers and distributors, especially during the crucial first few hours after a movie’s release. Rapid sharing of information between the film industry and law enforcement agencies will play a vital role in achieving this goal.
Industry insiders believe this MoU marks a significant turning point in the fight against film piracy. Several key personalities attended the meeting, including Telangana State Director General of Police B. Shri D. Sivadhar Reddy, IPS, TGCSB Director Smt. Shikha Goyal, IPS, and the President of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce. Also present were Honorary Secretary Suresh Babu, K. Ashok Kumar, Telangana Film Development Corporation Chairman Dil Raju, noted producers K.L. Damodar Prasad, Y. Surender Reddy, Smt. Supriya Yarlagadda, Anti-Video Piracy Cell Chairman Rajkumar Akella, Project Head Manindra Babu, and members of the Anti-Video Piracy Cell team.
