New Delhi: Indian cricketer Sanju Samson has been named the ICC Player of the Month for March following his exceptional performances in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Samson, who has often faced criticism regarding inconsistency, delivered a remarkable turnaround in the tournament. Drafted into the squad under unexpected circumstances, he capitalized on the opportunity with a series of match-winning innings, playing a pivotal role in India’s campaign.

India went on to secure the T20 World Cup title, marking another historic achievement for the team. Samson’s contributions proved crucial, especially in high-pressure matches.

During the Super 8 stage, he scored an unbeaten 97 off 50 balls against the West Indies, anchoring India to a vital victory. In the semi-final clash against England, Samson produced another outstanding knock of 89 off 42 deliveries, shifting the momentum firmly in India’s favour.

He continued his impressive form in the final against South Africa, scoring 89 runs off 46 balls and helping India clinch the championship. His consistent performances throughout the tournament also earned him the Player of the Tournament honour.

The International Cricket Council later confirmed Samson as the recipient of the ICC Player of the Month award, where he edged out fellow Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah.
