The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) released the final selection list for the Group-II recruitment for the year 2023 late on Tuesday night, bringing long-awaited relief to thousands of candidates.
The commission had issued the Group-II recruitment notification on December 7, 2023, to fill a total of 905 vacancies. However, the recruitment process faced delays at multiple stages due to court-related disputes, administrative reasons, and issues concerning reservations. The Preliminary Examination was conducted on February 25, 2024, followed by the Mains examination on February 23, 2025. While the results were announced on April 4, 2025, the release of the final selection list took additional time.
According to APPSC officials, 891 candidates have been selected against the notified vacancies. As per interim orders of the High Court, two posts under the sports quota have been kept on hold. In this context, the posts of Excise Sub-Inspector and Law Assistant Section Officer have also been temporarily excluded from the selection list.
The commission further stated that minor changes may occur in approximately 25 posts due to horizontal reservation adjustments. However, there will be no changes in the remaining 866 posts, and the selection process for most candidates has been finalized.
A total of 14 vacancies remain unfilled, including seven posts under the Divyangjan quota and five under other reserved categories, owing to the non-availability of eligible candidates. APPSC clarified that a final decision regarding the two sports quota posts will be taken after the High Court delivers its verdict in the pending case.
The prolonged delay in the Group-II recruitment had caused considerable mental stress among aspirants. With the release of the final selection list, candidates have expressed relief and satisfaction, stating that justice has finally been served. Officials indicated that appointment orders for the selected candidates are expected to be issued soon.
